Song for Eric

Like the first time I learned about sickness
Aches in my stomach dizzy and drained
I recalled all of the longing for healing
Wishing and feeling so helpless again

Oh if I could write something meaningful
Oh if I could speak it to you
Oh if I could tell you you're beautiful
Back up against the wall
Transcending protocol
Head high and standing tall
Singing so true

Like the last time I saw California
Ash on the sidewalk, Dust on my shoes
You sang my pain made it so musical
After the rain the skies became blue

Oh if I could write something meaningful
Oh if I could speak it to you
Oh if I could tell you you're beautiful
Back up against the wall
Transcending protocol
Head high and standing tall
Singing so true

Stranger than dreams is this thing called reality
Allowing extremes to define or confine
Nothing can comfort or assuage mortality
Like surrendering fear to all that's Divine

Music is playing so low and so moving
Walking on a wire, scratch at the door
Beyond the pale broken moon legacy
If I was the rain oh how I would pour
Desperate to make the call
Damned if I know at all
Noone gets out of here alive
